Sharing Information on Progress Reading List for 2018 (Part 2 of 2)

Almost 300 SIP reports were submitted by signatories in 2018. Here I highlight 10 of these. This is not a list of the best of 2018 as there were too many excellent reports to share here, but rather 10 reports worth highlighting for their different approaches, in particular relating to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) including from Champions, Advanced Signatories, first time reports and long time Signatories from around the world. Kemmy Business School in Limerick, Ireland has been a signatory since 2008 and is a Champion school. Their report marks a decade of engagement with PRME. “The layering of the UN Sustainable Development Goals through this and our 2016 SIP has brought a new focus to our work in this area. This spans key areas of research, teaching and engagement across the School, as shown in this report.”

Universidad del Pacifico, based in Lima Peru, has been a signatory since 2011. Note that this report is in Spanish. “La Universidad del Pacifico contribuye a alcazar los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) deeds su proposito de formar lideres responsables para el mundo. En 2016 y 2017, la Universidad emprendió una serie de iniciativas en el desarrollo de sus cuatro funciones sustantivas de docencia, investigación, proyección a la comunidad y gestión interna”.

Sobey School of Business in Nova Scotia, Canada has been a signatory since 2014. They have a number of initiatives focused on the SDGs. “While having a plan and acting on it is important, I am most proud of the impact of these efforts. Community groups that our students work with are bene ting from their projects, the PRME Community is the bene ciary of our new PRME Library Collection, the business leaders who hear our visiting speakers are challenged to think in new ways about the business case for sustainability and the risks of not acting now. Our students will graduate with a commitment to their own purpose and with a sense of urgency to contribute to a global collective impact project.”

The School of Business, Economics and Law at University of Gothenburg in Gothenburg, Sweden has been a signatory since 2010. “Our mission explicitly states that we shall contribute to a sustainable world, and to this end, we must take action. We must continue and even accelerate our work to tackle local and global challenges through research, teaching and cooperation with the corporate and public sector,as well as the general public and the international community.“

La Trobe Business School in Melbourne, Australia has been a signatory since 2008 and is a Champion school. Their report also marks their 10 year anniversary with the network. “An important role of PRME for the La Trobe Business School is focusing on building student capability through a deeper understanding of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs and the six PRME principles provide a framework for La Trobe Business School to engage our students in the critical issues of corporate responsibility and sustainability.”
